Making up for two years of- no posts- SO here's an update:)

The last post was announcing the sex of our twin boys. Well that's been over two years ago and me being the oh-so-busy wife, mother, full time working little lady that I am- well lets just say that this blog hasn't been first priority. However, I was so excited to go back and read my words written what seems like a lifetime ago.
So lets start with the PREGNANCY...

My prenancy was not an easy one but today I know that every bit of it was more than worth my two sweet boys.  At week 24 of my pregnancy (after being on bedrest for quite a while already) I went into preterm labor. This meant limiting activity drastically, many scary trips to the hospital at endless hours of the day, lots of medication to stop contractions, and sleepless nights. Those two little boys in my tummy were wanting to get out- but it was just too early! The people at our hospital knew us by name and were always so caring and comforting when we would come in. I had a wonderful doctor and I'm glad because we had the pleasure of seeing her ALOT. It's crazy to me to think back now when people talk about how often they get ultrasounds. We had them EVERYTIME we went to the doctor- be it my regular doctor or my high-risk doctor. Those babies and me were kept in check every day of my pregnancy. After a stressful pregnancy and much support from family and friends my sweet angels came into the world.
At 31 week we met Robert "Brooks" Nelson and Timothy "Briar"Nelson:
Proud Daddy:)
My Dad took this picture-- Really gives you an idea just how tiny they were.

They were born on July 14th, 2010-- If you look back to my post from 2010 you'll notice my due date was not until September 14th. Yes, 9 weeks early. My little premies came into the world at a whopping 4.0lbs(Brooks) and 3.2 lbs (Briar). So small that even the tiny premie outfits were just to big for their tiny little bodies. Their prematurity bought us a little over a month in the NICU. Luckily we were blessed with nurses and doctor who together with God got our little miracles healthy and ready to go home. One nurse inparticular , who we will always consider a very close friend, was amazing. She always was honest with us and kept us in the loop with what was going on with our babies. She was more than we could've asked for during the hard time we were going through. The boys call her "Fairy God Mother." :) very fitting if I do say so myself.
Anyway, we basically lived in the NICU for that month - Coming and going several times a day.
First Briar came home, yes the little one  first, we could not have been more extactic. Just imagine having your babies and not being able to take them home for over a month! One week later Brooks came home and our family was complete-- Me, Bryce, Brooks, Briar, and our lovely dog Tide.

All of these photos were taken by my lovely and  VERY  talented friend Sharon Coker. You can check her out here:

The first year flew by and the boys grew SO fast. You know how people always tell you that "they grow up so fast"? Yeah, everyone told me that and at the time I was just like "yeah, yeah I know." But I really had no idea just how true that statement was! Before we knew it they were one! We went from bottles, to rice cereal, to baby food, to pulling up, to taking steps all before they were one!And yes it seemed like it went by just as fast as that run-on sentence, haha. Who woulda Thunk' it,ha, we had two one year old boys on our hands!  My next post will be on their lovely first birthday party. And if I can figure this blogsite out it might even include pictures. :)
